Chris Hopkins is the Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Barnett & Company. He is a native of Whittier, California and has lived in Chattanooga since 1988. He began his career in finance at Merrill Lynch, following twenty years in manufacturing management. Mr. Hopkins joined Barnett & Company in 2004. He served for 13 years as an adjunct professor of Finance at UT Chattanooga, as well as a member of the Finance Advisory Board of the College of Business Administration. He writes a weekly column for the Chattanooga Times Free Press on finance and economics, and appears frequently in local media. He is a board member and former President of the CFA Society of East Tennessee, and a member of the National Association for Business Economics.
Mr. Hopkins currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Chattanooga Fire and Police Pension Fund and is a past board member of the AIM Center and the Hamilton Family YMCA. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) professional designation. He received Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Economics from California State University at Fullerton, and earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
